About TyWoodArts

The Work

TyWoodArts makes wall carvings and hand-pressed prints by hand, one piece at a time. Every carving begins as a solid block of beech wood sourced from the Black Sea forests of northern Turkey — a dense, fine-grained hardwood that holds detail well and ages with character.

The Material

We use beech wood from the Black Sea region for a reason. The climate there produces slow-growing trees with tight grain and consistent density — qualities that matter when you're cutting fine detail into the surface. The wood is dried, planed, and inspected before any carving begins.

The Process

Each piece is shaped using CNC with V-carving bits — 45° and 60° angles that follow the lines of the design, varying in depth as they go — along with relief bits that carve the dimensional, sculpted areas of the piece. After machining, every piece is finished entirely by hand: edges cleaned, surfaces refined, until the form reads exactly as intended.

The final step is a single coat of pure olive oil. No varnish, no lacquer, no stain. The oil absorbs into the wood rather than sitting on top of it, deepening the natural warm tone and nourishing the grain from within. What you see is the wood itself.

Natural Variation

No two pieces are identical. Grain pattern, tone, and texture shift from one block to the next. What arrives is its own thing — not a reproduction of the photograph, but a piece shaped by the specific wood it came from.

Ready to Hang

Every carving ships with a metal wall hook fitted to the back. No tools, no assembly — just the piece and the wall.

Where We Ship

We ship worldwide from Turkey. All pieces are carefully packed to arrive in the same condition they left.
