The Piece

Each sculpture is carved entirely by hand from solid beech wood — a dense, fine-grained hardwood chosen for its strength and the quiet warmth it holds once shaped. No molds, no casting. Every crocodile is worked from a single piece of wood, cut and carved until the form emerges.

The Finish

Once carving and sanding are complete, each piece receives a single finish: pure olive oil, nothing else.

Olive oil is not a coating — it absorbs into the wood rather than sitting on top of it. It deepens the beech's natural color, bringing out the grain without altering it. It nourishes the wood from within, keeping it from drying out over time. And unlike synthetic finishes, it creates a naturally antibacterial surface, leaving nothing harmful behind.

The result is a piece that feels as honest as it looks — no lacquer, no varnish, no artificial sheen. Just wood, shaped by hand and finished with oil.
